Bohanna breaks down commitment

Cordova, Tenn., defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna is committed to Kentucky and Cats Illustrated broke the story.

Bohanna showed up at Kentucky's first junior day in February and measured 6-foot-4 and 308 pounds. He spent time there with Mark Stoops, D.J. Eliot and Jimmy Brumbaugh.

On Tuesday night he phoned the UK coaching staff and expressed his desire to commit. They were happy to hear the news.

"They see me playing different spots for them," Bohanna said. "I play the three-technique now, so mainly defensive tackle. Coach told me he saw me on my film looking versatile, so he's expecting me to do different things."

D.J. Eliot was Bohanna's lead recruiter from Kentucky.

"It was early in the winter, like in December," Bohanna recalled. "And he reached out. He wanted me to come down to the junior day. He was talking to me pretty much like every day, every other day. He was trying to keep on me all the time. I got to know Coach Brumbaugh, too.

"What stood out about Kentucky was just what the coaches were telling me. They not only want to develop me. But they want to get to know me. After I left Kentucky coach (Eliot) kept in contact and I really built a relationship with him."

Ole Miss and Tennessee were heavily recruiting Bohanna and both staffs were pushing for him to visit. Memphis and Cincinnati were among the others showing the most interest.

Bohanna told Cats Illustrated he's solidly committed to Kentucky. He will visit on March 5 for a spring practice and UK's next junior day, and he'll visit again for UK's spring game.

"I would say it's pretty solid. My family supports me. They felt it was best for me, too," he said.
