Blue Smith changes commitment date but now more questions than answers

Rivals100 athlete and elite wide receiver recruit Blue Smith has been planning to announce his college destination on August 27th, right at the start of his senior season at Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne.

On Tuesday, however, Smith announced that he's shaking things up.

There's just one problem for anyone trying to decipher the entire Smith saga. Now there are more questions than answers.

The 6-foot-5 wide receiver tweeted, "There has been a change in my commitment date," when he had to know that would build quite a bit of suspense.

As of three hours after the posting of that message, Smith still hadn't clarified his earlier tweet. He hasn't announced a new commitment date, leaving room for plenty of speculation. Will it be earlier than August 27th or later? And either way, what does that mean for the Cats' chances?

Kentucky and Ohio State have long been considered the favorites for Smith, and while other schools are in play as well, and many others have offered, Smith has seemed to confirm the Wildcats and Buckeyes are standing out.

Most recently Smith visited Kentucky during the last weekend of summer camps in Lexington. He made that overnight trip with teammate and UK commitment Alex Reigelsperger.

Just after that Smith visited Ohio State for Urban Meyer's annual Friday Night Lights camp, and after that event Rivals.com Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt wrote that he sensed Kentucky was in a good spot with Smith.

On Tuesday, Smith received his written scholarship offer from Kentucky. He also tweeted out that he had received written offers from Ohio State and Cincinnati.
