Preview Podcast:Publisher Brett Dawson, Recruiting Editor Steve Jones and Staff Writers T.J. Walker and Aaron Smith break down their expectations of Nerlens Noel.
Rewind: Noel reclassified to the Class of 2012 and committed to the Wildcats on national television. His shot-blocking prowess was a key part to his No. 2 national ranking by Rivals.com.
Fast Forward: First things first: Noel is still completing coursework to get eligible for next season. Assuming that happens in time, Noel is expected to mirror Anthony Davis' impact in many ways, with a still-developing offensive game and a game-changing defensive presence.
John Calipari says: "What I want him to be is a basketball player who blocks shots. That's what I want him to be. The difference between him and Anthony (is), Anthony grew up as a guard who ended up blocking shots. And then had no post game whatsoever. None. We had to help him. In the end, he had that jump-hook and the other stuff and he was killing you. This kid was always bigger. Nerlens was always bigger than everybody."
