7 LEFT: Quentin Grimes cuts list

Five-star shooting guard Quentin Grimes cut his list to seven on Thursday.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound The Woodlands, Texas native will pick his school from a list of Kentucky, Kansas, Texas A&M, Marquette, Baylor, Arizona and Texas.

Grimes averaged 21.2 points, 4.3 assists and four rebounds per game. He's labeled as a do-it-all guard that benefits from his size and speed. He's ranked No. 21 in the class of 2018.

Kentucky isn't often, or ever, mentioned as the favorite for Grimes but the Cats are in a better spot than many think. UK has watched Grimes all spring and summer and feel confident that he could play the two with Immanuel Quickley playing the one. Many believe UK is the leader for Quickley.

However, Kansas is likely in the best spot for Grimes. The Jayhawks have made Grimes their No. 1 guard priority and seem to have the inside track to steal Grimes out of the Longhorn state.

In Grimes' most recent event last week he shot nearly 40 percent from behind the three and hit at least two threes in every game. His best performance from behind the arc came when he made five treys.

Sources tell Cats Illustrated that UK is expecting Grimes to take an official visit to Lexington and odds are it will be for Big Blue Madness, although Grimes hasn't confirmed those plans at this stage of his recruitment.

Kentucky has also offered Quickley, Darius Garland and Romeo Langford as other guards in the class of 2018.
