Norwell Lost For Season
The Anderson Redskins (4-0) defeated Columbus DeSales on Friday night to remain undefeated, but they did suffer a big loss in the game.
Senior offensive tackle Andrew Norwell, an Ohio State commit and the sixth-best tackle in the nation according to Rivals.com, broke his tibia just above his ankle and will have surgery to repair the damage.
The surgery will sideline him at least three months and effectively ends his high school football career.
The 6-foot-7, 275-pounder is regarded as one of the greatest players ever to come out of Anderson.
At this point it also appears unlikely that he will play his senior year of basketball.
Norwell committed long ago to the Buckeyes and should be at 100% by the time he's ready to suit up for the Buckeyes.
"The doctors feel he will recover nicely and the injury should not affect his future at Ohio State," head coach Jeff Giesting told the Cincinnati Enquirer.
There was heavy speculation that Norwell would redshirt next season before the injury and now that appears to be even more likely.
Anderson, who moved up from Division II to Division I this year, must now move forward without the anchor of their offensive line and senior leader.
