Wharton, NJ - Running back Mustafa Greene of Irmo High School (Irmo, S.C.) was named the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 12.
The standout running back had a jaw-dropping performance for his school this weekend, showing why he is one of the nation's most highly recruited running back. Greene, who led his team to a 42-35 win over Summerville High School (Summerville, S.C.) carried the ball 42 times for 278 yards and four touchdowns.
Rivals.com, the official selection partner of the All-American game, thinks Greene has very good upside.
Mike Farrell, a national recruiting analyst for Rivals.com said of Greene, "He is a hard runner who hits the hole very hard and at full speed and runs without fear. He has excellent vision and a slashing ability. He just gouges defenses and seems to get stronger with more carries."
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Week was designed to recognize the nation's top performance of the week. The winner will be announced each Monday, throughout the season and noted on www.usarmyallamericanbowl.com.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the premier high school football game in the country, annually setting new attendance records every January at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The game, which features the best high school football players in the nation, has helped launch the careers of Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Adrian Peterson, Tim Tebow and many other college and NFL stars since the first game in 2001. The game also crowns the U.S. Army Player of the Year during Bowl Week in San Antonio.
