It might not happen again this season, but if Oklahoma State forward Mario Boggan has another bad game have pity for the Cowboys' next opponent.

Boggan was held to eight points and made just four of 16 shots in an ugly 87-57 loss at Kansas more than two weeks ago. It was an uncharacteristic performance for the senior who had scored in double figures in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season.

What followed wasn't close to the norm either. Boggan set career highs with 37 points and 20 rebounds and hit the game-winning 3-pointer in the closing seconds to carry the Cowboys to a thrilling 105-103 win over Texas in triple overtime last Tuesday.

The performance landed Boggan a spot in the Big 12 record book. It was the first time any player in the league scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in a single game.

It also pushed Boggan to the top spot among power forwards in the latest version of Rivals.com's College Basketball Power Rankings. Nevada's Nick Fazekas, who fell to No. 2, had been ranked No. 1 since the start of the season.

The top spot also changed at two other positions.

Marquette's Dominic James regained his No. 1 ranking among point guards. James scored 18 points in a win over Louisville and 23 in a pivotal victory over Pittsburgh. He hit eight of 16 3-pointers in the two games.

Ohio State's Greg Oden took over the No. 1 ranking among centers for the first time. Oden put together a dominating performance in a win over Iowa, scoring a season-high 29 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Oden was 12-for-13 (92 percent) from the field. He is the first freshman ranked No. 1 at any position this season.

Nobody made a bigger climb from last week than USC's Nick Young, who went from No. 14 to No. 6 in the small forward rankings. Young scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed eight boards in the Trojans' upset of Arizona. Young followed that with an 18-point performance in a win over Arizona State.

Oregon's Aaron Brooks jumped from No. 13 to No. 8 in the point guard rankings. Brooks is averaging 18.4 points and 4.7 assists a game, numbers that have carried the surprising Ducks to a first place tie in the Pac-10.

Six other players make their debuts in the power rankings this week.

Vanderbilt's Derrick Byars, Washington State's Kyle Weaver and Clemson's K.C. Rivers all earned their way into the small forward rankings. Byars has led the Commodores to three wins in their last four games, averaging 21.5 points a game over that stretch.

Villanova's Scottie Reynolds and Duke's Jon Scheyer both freshmen landed in the shooting guard rankings. Reynolds scored a combined 53 points in key wins over the Wildcats and the Blue Devils.

Wake Forest's Kyle Visser moved into the center rankings. Visser leads the Deacons in scoring in rebounding, averaging 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds a game.

We will update the rankings weekly throughout the rest of the season. For our purposes, the power rankings will reflect those games played Tuesday through Monday.

The rating of a player and coach can fluctuate each week, but the power rankings measure their overall careers as well as their most recent performances.

By the end of the season, our power rankings should provide an accurate indicator of which players were the best at their respective positions.
