UK target Lacey on talented Derby Festival roster

Kentucky target Trevor Lacey is among 24 players selected to participate in the Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic in April.

The roster, released on Friday, is deep in talent and includes seven McDonald's All-Americans and 18 players ranked in the nation's top 100 for 2011 by Rivals.com.

The game will be Friday, April 22 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, and there will be a Night of Future Stars skills competition the night before at Bellarmine University's Knights Hall.

Oklahoma State-bound forward LeBryan Nash (ranked No. 4) of Texas is the highest-ranked player in the game.

None of UK's four signees - Marquis Teague, Mike Gilchrist, Anthony Davis and Kyle Wiltjer - are in the game as they have committed to play in the McDonald's All-American and Jordan Brand Classic games instead, and high school seniors are allowed to participate in only two such events.

But Lacey and two other undecided Derby Festival players have mentioned been as UK targets.

Lacey, who scored 44 points in a victory for Huntsville, Ala., Butler High School on Thursday to set a regional-tournament record, visited UK unofficially last weekend and is expected to make a college decision between the end of his season and the start of the April signing period.

The Derby Classic field also includes possible UK target Braeden Anderson, a Canadian native now playing at Wilbraham and Monson school in Massachusetts.

Anderson said he's received recruiting calls from UK and that the Cats' coaches could come evaluate him soon.

Undecided prospect DeAndre Daniels, once considered a top UK target from IMG Academy prep school in Florida, is the game's second-highest-ranked player at No. 9.

Daniels was heavily recruited by Kentucky in December and January, when he was thought to be trying to enroll at a Division I college midseason. But he instead will finish out the school year at IMG. UK reportedly backed off recruiting him when it became apparent he did not want play in college games this season and that Kansas reportedly became his leader. But he remains undecided, and it's unclear how many schools he'll consider this spring.

A list of all Kentucky Derby Festival players is available here.

Tickets to the game are $16 and available at Ticketmaster locations (www.Ticketmaster.com or 1-800-745-3000) or at the the KFC Yum! Center box office.
