Sooners Continue Search for TEs

It seems almost daily there is news about Oklahoma's expanding search for tight ends and Wednesday was no different as Sooner offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Kevin Wilson found a prospect in the Big 10 region that was worthy of a Sooner offer. The player is Cincinnati Elder four-star tight end Alex Welch.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound pass-catcher says the offer wasn't as surprising to him as it was to some of the other prospects recently offered by the Sooners.

"Coach Wilson, he called the school two weeks ago and he called and said he wanted to fly out and see me if I was interested. He said to think about it for a week and I let him know that I was interested," Welch said.

"We talked on the phone last week and he said he was coming to school today."

"He kind of told me that he wanted to see me in person and then they would offer, so I kind of expected to get the offer."
