Stansbury's Weekly Press Conference

Mississippi State's win over Alabama State left plenty to be desired by head coach Rick Stansbury.

The Bulldogs prevailed 76-67 in the game but the effort was clearly not where Stansbury expects it to be.

"I think it's very obvious they know it wasn't their best effort," Stansbury said. "I think they understand that effort gets you beat against Charlotte.

"Effort hasn't been our problem all year long. I haven't been concerned with that. How we play, not playing smart and not playing tough are issues. The effort has pretty much been there. I'm really not concerned about effort with this bunch. That is something that has been there with this team. The things that we've got to continue to get better at is to take toughness and utilize it better by defending and getting those rebounds."

MSU had a hard time containing the Hornets 7-foot-1, 265-pound center Chief Kickingstallionsims inside in the first half.
