Malik Carney taking advantage of opportunities

When Alexandria (Va.) T.C. Williams linebacker Malik Carney showed up to the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Richmond this April, he had an offer from Toledo. The two-star prospect had a great performance, though, and picked off several passes during one-on-one drills, which led Rivals to naming him the No. 16 defender at the event.

"I think I did pretty good," the 6-foot-2, 218-pounder said. "I caught five interceptions. I had a couple of passes caught on my, but they were well-thrown balls; I was there covering, but sometimes they just get you on a good pass. I gave it my all out there."

Carney's performance may have caught many observers off guard because he admits that he is a more proven run stopped on the prep level, but he is working to become a well-rounded defender. He has picked up offers from Western Michigan, Old Dominion and Connecticut, since his stellar camp performance and several more could be on the way.
