Hoza Scott looking for official Michigan offer down the road

ATLANTA - La Porte (Texas) 2014 linebacker Hoza Scott isn't hurting for college scholarship offers. Alabama, Oregon, and USC are just a few of the national powers that have let the 6-2, 205-pound outside linebacker know he'd be welcome in their program.

One coaching staff that hasn't officially offered quite yet is Michigan's, however. That hasn't stopped the Wolverines from showing heavy interest in the talented youngster.

"They said that I was a real great athlete, that I'm real good at football," he said of the Michigan staff. "I've got all the techniques; I've got them all down. I'm good in pass coverage, and I can rush the quarterback. The things that a football player really needs to do on defense, I've got all of that."

The only step that may be missing in Scott's quest to pick up a full offer from Michigan is a visit to campus. Unfortunately, that may be difficult for him to pull off any time soon.

"They told me I'm a hell of an athlete, and they really wanted me to come out there and visit," he explained. "I really have no way to get out there and visit, so it's going to be pretty hard.

"Yeah, I might be interested in visiting. If I can get out there, I'd go, but it's going to be pretty hard, so I don't know."

Some schools that he will be visiting soon include a pair of SEC powers. In July, Scott will see the campuses of Alabama and LSU, both of whom have offered. Though he doesn't have any other visits planned, Michigan is one school he'd like to see if he can work something out.

It's easy to see why coaches like Scott as a prospect. His frame is ideally built to add weight and become a true outside linebacker in college. He also has the speed to be dangerous in multiple facets of the game. In 2011, he was the only sophomore named to the Houston Chronicle's All-area team.

Scott is hoping that he can reconnect in with the Wolverines in the future. Given his talent level, Michigan's coaching staff is likely wishing for the same.
