Deacs chase Peach State receiver
Wake Forest joined Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter wide receiver Ryan Jenkins list of scholarship offers Wednesday, April 18.
"I'm starting to build a relationship with [Wake Forest assistant] Coach Lonnie Galloway," Jenkins said. "Our relationship is starting to take off. He actually messaged me on Facebook and told me they were interested and he wanted me to call him, so I called him. He was advertising the school, and at the end of the phone call he told me that he wanted to offer me."
The 5-foot-11, 179-pounder added if his schedule allows he will visit Wake Forest.
Jenkins also claims scholarship offers from Clemson, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, UCLA and Vanderbilt. Of the schools that have not offered Jenkins Alabama and Georgia are showing the most interest.
He said that out of the schools that have made scholarship offers Clemson, Missouri and UCLA are his favorites, because those programs are known for producing elite receivers. However, Jenkins insisted those schools are not his top three.
"My spring has been getting really crazy in terms of recruiting picking up," Jenkins said. "Last Saturday I was just at the Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp where I got receiver MVP. I've had about six [or] seven coaches come by this spring. It's starting to pick up a whole lot and a lot of coaches are coming to see me at spring practice. They'll be looking to offer when they do."
He was also recognized as one of the better athletes at the Rivals/VTO Combine in Georgia last month.
Jenkins plans to camp at Alabama, Clemson and Georgia and to visit UCLA this summer.
He caught 50 passes for 875 yards and eight touchdowns last season.
