Recruiting Hot Board: Five Still Alive

Grammer, a former Houston commit, picked up an offer earlier this week after receiving an in-home visit from Rick Stockstill and Buster Faulkner. Grammer was in town this weekend for an official visit, and word is he came away impressed with what he saw. The rumor mills are swirling in regards to Grammer's future plans. Word is he has a top four that includes Middle Tennessee, Samford, Temple, and Florida Atlantic - with a lean towards MT and Samford. Word came out that a commitment could have come as early as Sunday, but that came and went. Looks like we might be waiting until Signing Day to see who will land this talented prospect.

MINNS

Minns was in Murfreesboro earlier this month, and reports were that he was very impressed with his visit. His coach at Dwyer High even went as far as to say that he expected Minns to sign with the Blue Raiders when it was all said and done. However, since that time, things have started heating up even more for Minns, and he has become an even hotter commodity. He took an official visit to Bowling Green this weekend and told Rivals.com Analyst Chris Nee that he may try to squeeze in another visit and that things have been really "crazy" lately. According to reports, Minns has everything narrowed down to four schools - MT, Bowling Green, UAB, and FAU. He will make his decision on Signing Day.

MADDOX

Maddox, the Pace (Fla) prospect, visited Middle this weekend. Reports are that he really enjoyed the visit, but left Murfreesboro without an offer in hand. From what we have heard, the coaching staff told Maddox they are waiting to hear on another wide receiver before pulling the trigger and offering Maddox. If that receiver the staff was referring to was Kendrick Singleton, multiple reports have stated that Singleton has flipped his commitment from Middle Tennessee to North Carolina. If it was indeed Singleton, then Maddox looks to be in good shape to get that offer. However, news came late Sunday night about a possible commitment from WR/DE Terry Pettis. We are working to confirm this commitment, but if it is true, and Pettis has signed as a WR for the Blue Raiders, Maddox may be the odd man out.

WRIGHT

Safety Sterling Wright is involved in an interesting situation. It is no secret that his top choice is the Kentucky Wildcats. Wright was in Lexington this weekend for an official visit. The problem? Going into the weekend, Wright did not hold an offer from UK. There has been no word yet on whether or not he got that offer. The reason Wright does not have an offer from UK is that they have other offers out there, and told Wright they would give those players a chance to commit first. If he does get the offer, he is going to be a Wildcat. If he does not though, he has stated he will pick between Middle Tennessee and Minnesota. In a twist of irony, former MT commit Jarnor Jones was also in Lexington this weekend for an official visit. Jones does have an offer from UK, and if he flips to the Wildcats, in a strange way, his de-commitment from MT could come back to help the Blue Raiders land Wright. Stay tuned because this one could get interesting.

BROWN

Brown has flown under the radar for just about all of the recruiting season. However, reports surfaced early in the week that Brown had a top four narrowed down. That list included MT, Central Florida, Western Kentucky, and Boise State. Brown has stated that he will make a decision Tuesday night, and sign first thing Wednesday morning. Two weeks ago Brown's list also included Houston, Washington St., West Virginia, TCU, and Marshall - so the fact that MT is in his top four says a lot about how hard they are going after him. Brown is a versatile player with great quickness - the type of player who would fit in well into MT's offensive scheme in the slot receiver position, but also possesses a valuable skill-set on the defensive side of the ball. Either way you look at it, somebody will be getting a very impressive player come Signing Day.
