2013 star Warrick continues to open eye

In the summer of 2011, Houston (Texas) Cy Falls receiver Jacorey Warrick caught the eyes of Texas coaches as he worked at cornerback at the Longhorn summer camp.

Warrick continued to attract attention from college coaches with his work in summer camps, and the efforts of his junior season on the gridiron did not go unnoticed with Utah becoming the first to extend an offer his way.

As a junior, Warrick recorded a team leading 36 receptions for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to unanimous first-team 17-5A honors. On Friday, he traveled to San Antonio to put his talents on display against some of the top 2013 prospects in the country at the Army National combine. After measuring 5-10, 166 pounds, Warrick wanted to wow in the testing and he wanted to flash his abilities in one-on-one drills, working at receiver and maybe a little corner.

It's safe to say he impressed.

"Warrick threw a couple of nice double moves that left some defensive backs grasping for air, and was one of the fastest receivers at the combine," Orangebloods.com's Dustin McComas said following the combine.

Along with Utah and Texas, the likes of West Virginia, Texas Tech, Arkansas, and Baylor have expressed an interest with Texas, Texas Tech, Arkansas, and Baylor showing the most interest according to Warrick.

He has attracted interest on offense and defense and is ready to show what he is capable of doing on both sides of the ball.

"Just being an athlete I can actually play corner," Warrick said. "I've worked out at it a little bit and hopefully next year I'll be playing both sides of the ball at receiver and corner. Actually the University of Texas was in yesterday and they were looking at my offensive film. I don't know if they're going to switch up what they want to recruit me as or whatever but I'm comfortable playing either one at the next level."

According to Warrick, there are a couple of favorites at the top of his early list.

"It's hard to say right now but it's probably Texas and Baylor that are my two favorites right now," he said. "Just the atmosphere of being in Austin and Waco, I loved it when I went out to both of those places."

It also appears that he could pay both schools a visit in the near future.

"I'm supposed to be in Austin for something," Warrick said. "I don't know if it's a camp for USA football, but there's something in Austin I'm supposed to be doing. I was going to use that to take an unofficial visit to the University of Texas.

"Waco, I'm probably taking a junior day out to Baylor sometime soon."

Warrick is currently ranked No. 38 in the Lone Star Recruiting's 2013 Top 100.
