One school leads for Rigg

We haven't heard too much from three-star New Jersey linebacker Doug Rigg over the past month, but that doesn't always mean things have gone unnoticed.

Not too much has been happening on the recruiting front lately for the 6-foot-1, 220-pound prospect from Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic. Rigg has been focused on finishing his senior season as strong as possible and that has left little time for recruiting.

Bergen Catholic is 7-2 and is set to play at Notre Dame Prep on Friday night in the playoffs.

"Well, I'm very confident even though they're the highest seed," Rigg said of the game this weekend. "We should be prepared so I think we're ready for them."

Rigg has not been in contact with many schools lately. Earlier in the year he took an official visit to West Virginia, and he also took in Rutgers' game against Cincinnati early in the year.

"If I were to take any more visits it would probably be after the season," he explained. "I'm concentrating on the season and the playoffs now, and then right after football season ends I'm starting up with basketball.

"I don't think I'll be able to take all five of my visits, just because I don't think I'll have enough time."

Does Rigg have a favorite?

"It's probably West Virginia, because the visit went real well. There's a chance I could commit soon. I'd have to talk it over with my family and coaches, and if I feel comfortable with it I might do it."

Rigg has received offers from West Virginia, Rutgers, Louisville, Maryland, Iowa and Wisconsin. He said he has narrowed his focus to those six schools and is not interested in any others.
