Washington Preview

Mississippi State proved over the weekend that they belonged in the field of 64 for the NCAA Tournament.

The next challenge for the Bulldogs will be to remain there.

MSU made the cross country trek to Portland, Ore., for their 3:45 p.m. CST matchup with Washington in the opening round of the tournament this afternoon on CBS.

Today will mark the Bulldogs 10th appearance in the Big Dance and are 11-9 overall in tournament appearances. It will also be their third consecutive tournament appearance to square off with a Pac-10 opponent in the first round. State knocked off Oregon in the first round last year and also Stanford in the opening round back in 2005.

The Bulldogs have went dancing six times in the last eight years and are 4-5 under head coach Rick Stansbury in the tournament. Washington is the third No. 4 seed they have played over the years and are 1-1 against that seed.
