Ole Miss Preview

Rick Stansbury simply doesn't lose to Ole Miss at home.

The Mississippi State floor general is a perfect 10-0 against the Rebels inside Humphrey Coliseum, the site of today's in-state rivalry scheduled to tip off at noon on Raycom Sports.

In fact, during Stasnbury's 18-year tenure in Starkville as both an assistant coach and head coach the Bulldogs are 16-2 against Ole Miss at home.

While Mississippi State leads the overall series against Ole Miss 133-104, it's dominance against the Rebels at home is what stands out - 88-23. But in the last 25 years, it's really been overwhelming. During that span, the Bulldogs have won 23 of the contests, including the last 10. Ole Miss last won here in 1998 (82-78). Before that, the Rebels' last victory was in 1993 (56-53). Of MSU's 24 wins, they have come by an average of 10.4 points. Overall,
Mississippi State has won 11 of the last 15. However, the two have split their games the last three seasons.

State took last season's contest in Starkville 88-68 while the Rebels prevailed in Oxford 74-63.

The Bulldogs enter today's game at 14-6 overall and 6-1 inside the Southeastern Conference. MSU is shooting 45.9-percent on the year from the field and knocking down 37.4-percent from the outside. They also hit 69.7-percent off the free throw line but have been outrebounded by 0.5 a game by their opponents. The Bulldogs are averaging 74.3 points per game while allowing opponents to reach just 65.4.
