Georgia Preview

This afternoon's game in Athens, Ga., may not be considered a must-win for Mississippi State but it probably hurt moral to get things done in convincing fashion.

The Bulldogs limped away from their first conference loss to LSU Wednesday night dropping the decision by 24 points on the road. The league loss was the first for MSU on the season and now puts them in a two-way tie for first in the SEC West with the Tigers at 3-1.

The Bulldogs will face a struggling Georgia squad that is winless in conference play and are currently on a five-game skid. However, State has not fared well at Stegeman Coliseum in recent years losing five of their last six visits. It will be the 99th meeting between the two schools with the series nodded at 49-49. They met twice last year with Mississippi State taking the regular season matchup 60-49 in Starkville while Georgia won the SEC Tournament meeting 64-60 at Georgia Tech en route to their tournament title.

Rick Stansbury's Bulldogs are 13-6 on the season and are averaging 74.7 points per game. MSU shoots 46.2-percent from the field, 37.4-percent from behind the arc and 70-percent from the free throw line. State is minus-0.1 in the rebounding column to their opponents and are allowing 65.6 points per game.
