The Super Seven - 2013 Recruiting Hotboard Update

University of Kentucky Recruiting Hotboard

2013 Top Targets

PROSPECT

NOTES

Derek Willis - PF

6-8, 190 lbs

Louisville (KY) Bullitt East HS

Three Star - #126 Overall

COMMITTED TO KENTUCKY

Corey's Call: Willis committed to Kentucky last winter, choosing the Wildcats over Louisville and Purdue. A combo forward with a well refined skill set, Willis is the master of the inside-outside scoring game. He loves to shoot the jumper, and shows a good stroke out to the three-point line. What makes Willis dangerous is his ability to secure a rebound and push it coast to coast for a score. He'll have to get stronger, but he shows good length, and above average athleticism.

Julius Randle - PF

6-9, 240 lbs

Plano (TX) Prestonwood Christian Academy

Five Star - #1 Overall

Corey's Call: Rande's list of in-home visits has been well documented by the media this fall; with coach Calipari being mentioned by Randle as making a strong impression on him. Randle also has visited Kentucky officially for the alumni game, and was very impressed. Still, there are several schools on his list with the leaders being Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Kansas; with Baylor, Texas, Okahoma State, Oklahoma and North Carolina State also in the mix.

Aaron Harrison - SG

6-5, 210 lbs

Fort Bend (TX) Travis HS

Five Star - #3 Overall

Corey's Call: Aaron, and his twin brother Andrew, are still considering just Kentucky and Maryland; with the race looking to come down to the wire. The twins are very familiar with both coaching staffs and campuses, and it could come down to a flip of the coin as to where the two land. Rumors have linked their father, Aaron Sr. to favoring Maryland, while the brothers are said to be more in favor of Kentucky. Additional rumors say that the twins could attend UK's Big Blue Madness.

Andrew Harrison - PG

6-5, 205 lbs

Fort Bend (TX) Travis HS

Five Star - #4 Overall

Corey's Call: Andrew, and his twin brother Aaron, are still considering just Kentucky and Maryland; with the race looking to come down to the wire. The twins are very familiar with both coaching staffs and campuses, and it could come down to a flip of the coin as to where the two land. Additional rumors say that the twins could attend UK's Big Blue Madness.

Aaron Gordon - SF/PF

6-8, 205 lbs

San Jose (CA) Archbishop Mitty

Five Star - #5 Overall

Corey's Call: Gordon still lists several schools; but his rumored leaders are Washington, California, Oregon, Arizona and Kentucky; with Kansas being another possibility. He has visited both Washington and Oregon this fall, with no other actual visit dates being confirmed as of yet. Gordon is not only the most difficult to project on this list, but also probably the toughest for Kentucky to land; as he is thought to favor the west coast schools over Kentucky and Kansas.

James Young - SG/SF

6-6, 200 lbs

Rochester Hills (MI) High School

Five Star - #8 Overall

Corey's Call: Young is considered a strong Kentucky lean, but is also still listening to pitches from Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan State and Syracuse. He plans on taking an unofficial visit to Kentucky on September 29th, and could return shortly after (possibly for Big Blue Madness) for an official visit. Of everyone on the list, Young (who has an offer) looks to be the closest thing to a lock for Kentucky to land in 2013.

Marcus Lee - PF

6-9, 205 lbs

Antioch (CA) Deer Valley HS

Five Star - #15 Overall

Corey's Call: Lee is still considering only Kentucky and California, with the Wildcats having made up ground to even the race out. Lee will be officially visiting Kentucky for Big Blue Madness, and his recruitment is expected to dwindle down shortly after that. California has strong connections to Lee because of the geography, but the relationship between Calipari and Lee has moved quickly this fall; leading us to believe that this is another 50-50 situation (as with the Harrison twins).

Tyler Roberson - PF

6-8, 210 lbs

Roselle (NJ) Catholic School

Four Star - #29 Overall

Corey's Call: Roberson recently received a Kentucky offer and lists the Wildcats in his top ten, of which there are no known leaders. The general consensus in the New Jersey area is that if the Wildcats apply the pressure then they'll have an excellent chance of landing Roberson; although the same has been said of Kansas as well. The newest 2013 class member to receive an offer, Roberson is one of the fast rising prospect because of his motor, athleticism, size and potential.
