South Carolina preview
Mississippi State is reeling after five straight losses and have put their NCAA Tournament hopes in jeopardy of late.
But the Bulldogs have an opportunity to reverse their fortunes tonight as they travel to South Carolina at 7 p.m. CT.
MSU leads the series 15-8 following five straight wins against the Gamecocks. The Bulldogs are 6-4 inside the Colonial Life Arena claiming the last two contests there by an average of nine points. They have a 65.2-percent winning percentage against USC, the highest against any other SEC opponent.
State narrowly won last year's meeting in Starkville 60-58. The Bulldogs received double-double efforts from Renardo Sidney and Kodi Augustus as well as 21 points on seven treys from Ravern Johnson in the senior day victory. Tonight the Gamecocks will also recognize their seniors.
Rick Stansbury is 11-5 against the Gamecocks during his 14-year tenure.
Mississippi State enters tonight seeking their elusive 20th victory still sitting at 19-10 overall. The Bulldogs have now dropped to 6-8 in league play following Saturday's 67-50 loss at Alabama where they were outscored 42-25 in the second half. Sidney and Dee Bost each had 14 points in defeat.
