Alabama preview

Mississippi State is looking to end its four-game losing skid at 5 p.m. this afternoon.

If the Bulldogs want to get back to their winning ways they will have to do it on the road in Alabama's Coleman, a place where they have had minimal success historically.

MSU, once considered a lock for the NCAA Tournament, has fallen on hard times of late losing to Georgia and LSU in overtime followed by a road loss to Auburn and top-ranked Kentucky at home Tuesday night. The Bulldogs squandered substantial leads in each of those contests.

Alabama leads the overall series 114-73 and are 73-14 in Tuscaloosa. In the last 13 games played in Coleman Coliseum, nine have been decided by single digits and four have gone into overtime. The Bulldogs have lost three straight in T-town but claimed the game earlier this season at home.

State won the Jan. 14 meeting 56-52 in Starkville behind a double-double performance from junior forward Arnett Moultrie, who had 25 points and 13 rebounds against the Crimson Tide.

Rick Stansbury is 16-13 against Alabama over his 14 seasons at the helm of Mississippi State.
