St. Louis is WIDELY regarded as the best baseball city and as having the most knowledgable fans. You are waaaaaaaay off base on this one.

How bout that grand slam by Yadi off Roy Halladay! Maybe that can get things turned in the right direction again...
Way to go Yadi!!

Sometimes it takes just one statement to reveal someone's knowledge of baseball, or in this case, lack thereof.
Certainly the case with that guy...

Here's hoping the offensive output continues tonight. Matt Adams has really been a nice addition with the losses of Berkman & Craig.

Gotta love where we are at this point.

No Chris Carpenter....no problem.
No Albert Pujols....no problem.
No Berkman, Craig, Jay and Freese....no problem.

Not sure what will happen but I love this team.

Let's go Cards!!

Bump. Finally got switched to DirecTV and dropped Dish. Cards are back on the air at my house.
6/29 2:43 PM | IP: Logged

Thats whats on at my house pretty much every night!

The win the other night was probably the best of the season. Down 6-2 going into the bottom of the 9th against the Marlins & closer Heath Bell. Scored 4 in the 9th, including a 2 out 2 run HR by Yadi and went on to win 8-7.

Despite everyone but the Budweiser guy being injured, we're still hanging around the lead!

Let's go Cards!!

Looks like really bad news on Carpenter. Oh well. Lynn has been a nice replacement despite his recent struggles. Maybe we will get Garcia back soon.
7/3 2:13 PM | IP: Logged
Yea, have to hate that for Carpenter, a great pitcher, a class act & a clubhouse leader. Hopefully the surgery is successful & he can come back & have a strong 2013 season.

But, hey, we played last season without our other ace, and rallied around each other well enough to win the WS.

This year, we've already played not only without Carpenter, but Berkman for a significant part of the division. And except for the Reds, who are "obviously" in the driver's seat in the division :) we are hanging in there pretty well.

Just another challenge for the Cards, the most resilient team in baseball over the past year or so.

Let's go Cards!!

Going to be interesting to see what Mo does now. Cards definitely BP help. I hope they find another starter so someone can move to the BP.

Congrats Matt Holliday!! A very deserving addition to the MLB All Star Game!! :)
7/6 8:32 PM | IP: Logged
Now thats a great way to head into the AllStar Break!!

Down 3 in the bottom of the 9th & touch up Heath Bell for 3, with Furcal getting the gamewinning hit with 2 out!!

Let's go Cards!!!! :)

7/8 5:48 PM | IP: Logged
Very nice finish! I think they are in a very good position considering all the injuries they have suffered. They will have Berkman back very soon. I understand there were a lot of scout in StL this weekend.
7/9 9:04 AM | IP: Logged
No complaints with where we are right now considering all of the injuries. Huge win yesterday too.
7/9 10:11 AM | IP: Logged
Cards need to pick up a win 2nite. Leaving Cincy after losing only 1 game in the standings would be alright.

The good thing is that it is the Reds & Pirates, two teams who are very unlikely to run off & hide, in front of us.

Just need to get the offense rolling & we will be ok regardless.

Well, not a good way to start the 2nd half of the season. Still plenty of baseball left though.

7/15 11:40 PM | IP: Logged
yep, not the start everyone was looking for, but that's baseball. Gonna need more timely hitting & some bullpen help i believe.

Lots of baseball left. If we're still 4.5 out 2 months from now, then it will be time to worry.

Let's go Cards! :)

How Victor Marte is still on the roster perplexes me no end.......he gets ZERO big outs when we need them.....TERRIBLE
7/16 8:22 PM | IP: Logged
Only 2 games over .500 is a bit hard to believe but, fortunately, we are in a division with no teams capable of running off & hiding. Need to figure out a way to string some wins together & get things going.

Hopefully it starts tonight against the Cubs, though it would have been nice to see Dempster traded before tonights start!

I didn't expect we would see this much struggling offensively. Ready to settle in front of the TV & see some good baseball in a little while!

Let's go Cards!! :)

Another good game today!

6-1 on the homestand, including 3 of 4 from LA...hopefully we keep it rolling!

I know we're just hanging out here in 3rd place while those 2 annual powers above us battle it out...but 6 outta 7 at home aint too shabby!

Let's go Cards!! :)

7/26 4:51 PM | IP: Logged

Well, we've been playing well, after our sluggish second-half start. The only problem is that so are the Reds and Pirates. We just can't gain any ground. Still lots of baseball left, so I'm not too worried. Just gotta win the wild card...

Well the Cards finally sent Marte down  (about two months too late) and the bullpen has been better the last week. Let's hope it continues.

Have to give credit to the Reds and Pirates. Both teams are playing well. The Reds now having loss Votto and in the last two days, Phillips, deserve accolades.

Which team the dirty birds rooting for this weekend?

Reds or Pirates?

I'd say the Pirates, seeing how the Reds are 8 games up. Of course, it won't matter if we don't win...

Do what you want but if I were you I'd be pulling for the Reds at this point...much better chance of the Cards catching the Pirates for a WC spot then there is of them catching the Reds who now own the best record in baseball....but by all means do what u think is best. The card fanbase seems to stay confused anyway.
8/4 9:57 AM | IP: Logged
I think Cardinal fans are perfectly capable of deciding who we will root for, but thanks for the useless input.

I could care less who wins between Cincy & Pittsburgh. We have to win games ourselves. IF we do that then hopefully it will shake out in our favor & we wil get in the postseason.........again.

"We have to win games ourselves."....dont forget to oil your glove and pine tar your bat. "Useless Input"...??  Could you give me an example of USEFULL input on here? I always thought it was all pretty much useless input on here but maybe I'm wrong and all of the usefull input provided by I'm sure all cardinal fans really contain the keys to not only winning the world series but key to life itself. Are you feeling OK?...You don't sound like yourself. You know like how you are usually talking about how great the cardinals are and how the reds stink..maybe you might want to go see a doctor about that and see if he's got a solution to that "down & out" feeling that you seem to have...Oh hell, there I go again with more useless input...I'm sorry.

Just thought I would bring back this quote from legalbeagle for the Reds fan above's benefit, since he has decided we "stay confused."

And, yes, sorry if it offends you but a Reds fan telling Cards fans anything, much less who we should & shouldn't cheer for, is "useless input" ... to me anyway.

On another note, i spent my weekend in St. Louis & saw 2 fun wins, one of the highlights was Yadi stealing 3rd & throwing out Gomez trying to steal twice, all in friday nights game. Love that guy!!

The best part was seeing players from the 82 World Series Championship team & reliving that awesome memory! What an enjoyable team that was!!

Talk about your useless input... ...I was not in the least offended by your "useless input" comment but I was dumbfounded. Still waiting for you to provide that example of "usefull input" to show me the difference. Also your reading comprehension is obviously lacking because you missed the first few words of my post where I clearly stated "Do what you want" in regards to which team to pull for. If you think your odds are better to catch the Reds than they are of catching the Pirates for a WC spot then who am I to stand in your ignorant way. You guys crack me up. I think you all must be big Jethro Tull fans as he did an album in the 70's entitled "Living in the Past". 82 Cardinals...lol...you want to talk enjoyable, how about those 75 AND 76 Reds...Quite possibly the BEST team of ALL-TIME and certainly of the modern era. But rather than think about them I'm enjoying the hell out of the 2012 REDS!  Sorry, got to run as the Reds look like they're going to pound the Pirates again...

Alright i can tell you wanna argue for whatever reason & that's fine but I really dont.

But, for your benefit, Im willing to help you out a little bit.

You see I am a Cardinals fan, therefore I have no interest in the 75 or 76 Reds, as great as they were. I have as much interest in them as I do the 2012 Reds...zero. Then again, I am a Cardinal fan. Shouldn't be that hard to understand.

As for the 82 Cardinals, AS I SAID, they were at the ballpark this weekend, as was I. They were being honored & I enjoyed that. You see, when you have much tradition, it is important to remember & honor them every once in a while. I happened to be there, I saw it, it was a blast, and I shared that here on this CARDINALS THREAD.

Now, i'll have to be honest with you. I don't see the Cardinals organization honoring the 75 or 76 Reds at Busch Stadium any time so you will probably not see me posting about that happening here on this CARDINALS THREAD.

If you want to celebrate the Reds...75, 76 or whenever, more power to ya, you have ample opportunity to do so on this board as most of the threads are about them.

hopefully this helps....

and you somehow call US  confused...

wow...

Let's go Cards!!!  :)

Fair enuff 3rex...not wanting to argue just yank your chain a bit which is what us  fans tend to do when their team is performing well. I'm quite sure you know what I'm talking about. It's all in fun and as someone who grew up in central Illinois, I've had a lot of practice of talking crap to cardinal fans. I have a lot of respect for the

Cardinal franchise and the way they've done things over the yrs. Their ability to consistently put people in the seats speaks volumes for not only how well the organization is run but also about how loyal the fanbase is to the cards and the game of baseball. Cincinnati is also a city with a strong passion about their home team but when things aren't going well there they have lacked the abilty to still fill up the ballpark which I hate. Sorry for intruding on a Cardinals thread and I will try to refrain from doing so in the future...but I would hope Card fans would also show the same respect regarding Reds threads.

8/5 5:58 PM | IP: Logged
I understand man. I feel the same. Sometimes my desire to debate crosses the line a bit. I took the "Cards fans are confused" line, and not knowing what that was all about, just decided to fire back at ya!

The Reds are kicking some butt, no question, and doing so without Votto makes it more impressive.

To be honest, im keeping my eye on the WC teams right now & hoping we can stay in reach of them. If the Reds happen to come back to the pack a little bit, then that will be fine too.

I do have much respect for those Big Red Machine teams. As a matter of fact, as a young kid who enjoyed playing shortstop, Dave Concepcion was one of my favorite players in those days.

Hoping we can get a win tonight & pick up a game.

In a blog for the Denver Post, baseball writer Patrick Saunders praised Cardinals fans for their cordial, courteous manners and called them the best fans in baseball. "Going to a game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis is one of the great experiences in sports," Saunders wrote, in part. "The red-clad fans are loud, proud, knowledgeable and well aware of the Cardinals' grand place in baseball history. You can feel the tradition."

yep...now that's what im talkin about!

What a bunch of fun! One thing about baseball is that it takes you back into "other times" in your life. It jus made me remember being a student at WKU in 82, watching the Cards & Harvey's Wallbangers battle it out. :)

I don't know about you, but during Friday nights game, when they interviewed Ken Oberkfell on the screen, I was not able to figure out who he was until they said. He really looked different...then again it has been 30 years. :)

Hopefully we get back on the winning track today & continue cutting into the division lead.

Cards -7 to the Reds as of 8/14.  Looks like the series 8/24 thru 8/26 will determine if the Cards have any chance of making it a race.

Well, tied for the wildcard. Thats something to build on the rest of the season. Hopefully the Cards can finish off the Dbacks tonight.

Looks like the Giants may be bowing out of the race. The irony of a Giant LF, not named Bonds, testing positive & being suspended...

Not sure why anyone would be surprised that there is much PED use still in MLB.......with 4th outfielders transforming into stars.....individual HR numbers taking inexplainable spikes.....pitchers who throw 103, 104, 105 mph night after night when noone in the history of baseball has done so.....players who want to cheat are going to figure out a way to cheat...
