July 11, 2009On Friday evening at the Philadelphia University, the All-star game of the Reebok All-American Camp took place following the Team championship game but was less than spectacular, mostly due to all-star absenteeism.
A few of the top players were injured and a few had to leave in order to fulfill previous obligations or restrictions.
Even with the unwritten no defense all-star game policy, the final score was only 90-84. A score which was low by all-star game standards, reflecting an overall low field goal percentage
That being said, there were quite a few bright spots as Patric Young (7pts, 1reb) got the crowd hyped with some spectacular aerial dunks. LeBryan Nash (12pts, 3rebs) and Travis McKie (11pts, 1reb) also played a solid game. Tony Chenault from Neumann Goretti (PA), however, led his team to victory with 17 points and 2 rebounds.
Of the New York players scheduled to play in the All-star game, Jabarie Hinds was unable to play due to injury. JJ Moore was also unable to play due to back spasm he felt during the previous team championship game. Last year's MVP Ashton Pankey and his New Heights teammate Devon Collier, left early due to obligations to play in the Hoop Hall of Fame Game in MA.
Of the Metro players that participated Sidiki Johnson led the way with 9 points and 2 rebounds.
On the national front, Tyler Adams was unable to play due to injury and Michael Cobbins was unable to play due to Michigan State rules.
