Bulldogs welcome LA-Monroe to The Hump
The Mississippi State Bulldogs hope to capitalize on the momentum of their opening win of the season tonight hosting Louisiana-Monroe at 7 p.m. at Humphrey Coliseum.
The Bulldogs rolled past Centenary 77-55 in their season opener on Saturday but will take to the hardwood with only a one day rest against the Warhawks tonight. MSU opens the year with seven games in 15 days, including four in the first seven.
The Bulldogs are 11-2 against ULM with the last meeting coming in 2004 with State walking away with a 76-52 win in Starkville. The Bulldogs are 5-2 against Louisiana-Monroe on their home floor. The Warhawks have not won against Mississippi State since 1978.
The Bulldogs have found success in their second game of the season under head coach Rick Stansbury. In 10 seasons at MSU with Stansbury at the helm, the Bulldogs are 9-1 in the second game of the season. Their only loss came last year in a two point setback to Clemson.
Freshman point guard Dee Bost had a successful debut Saturday against the Gents posting nine points, three rebounds and four assists in his first action. Junior guard Barry Stewart scored 13 points grabbed three boards and came away with four steals while sophomore guard Ravern Johnson led State with 15 points and also had three rebounds and three assists.
