Perhaps no player in America has gone through his recruitment process so diligently and methodical as Ryan Kelly. After an extremely busy month and a half of traveling, visiting, talking and evaluating, the five-star power forward from Ravenscroft School has come to his decision. The wait for Duke fans, among many others will finally be over at 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
Eight months ago when Christ School's Mason Plumlee verbally pledged his services to Duke University, many felt the recruitment of Kelly was over. At that particular time it was for the most part. Then came Kelly's performance in AAU basketball and his selection to the USA U18 National Team. It was at his USA National Trials that Duke rediscovered Kelly and found their way back into the mix.
The Blue Devils timing was perfect, as Kelly was just several weeks away from narrowing his list to a final six, which eventually ended up as the following - Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Georgetown and Vanderbilt.
