Video: Dantonio breaks down first day of spring practice
EAST LANSING - Michigan State kicked off their first day of spring practice in shorts on Tuesday. Afterward Spartan head coach Mark Dantonio met with members of the local media to discuss what he saw from his team.
Dantonio said that his team exhibited good recall on day one of spring practice and he said that his senior quarterback Brian Hoyer looked sharp and that sophomore Greg Jones was running around well in drills.
Dantonio cautioned that practice in shorts only gives a limited indication of where his players are at, but he added that both he and his coaching staff could tell that his team had retained much of what they had learned in bowl practice.
Right now, says Dantonio, he wants his returning players to master fundamentals and to continue to master the schemes that were installed last year during his first year as head coach.
