Chattanooga signalcaller says he is a Vol
Chattanooga, Tenn., The McCallie School quarterback BJ Coleman said that he struggled to get the words out when he was offered a scholarship over the phone Tuesday night by head coach Phillip Fulmer, but he did get the words "I am a Vol" out of his mouth and as a result of that sentence, he has become the Vols eighth commitment in the '07 Class and their third this week.
"I got a text message from Tennessee and I called coach Fulmer to see what was going on," Coleman said. "When he answered he told me that they had evaluated me and that they were ready to offer me a scholarship and I committed to him right then."
The Tennessee coaching staff has had the opportunity to evaluate Coleman twice in the last week as he has been a part of their seven on seven passing camp as well as their one day senior camp.
"I think the camps helped me get the offer," Coleman said. "The camps were good for me and my teammates. I appreciate coach Potter taking us up there. We had a good seven-on-seven camp and we all learned a lot. Coach Cutcliffe and I have been talking a good bit and we have developed a great connection that is a relationship which is going to grow far beyond football."
