Oregon roundup: Upcoming visits big
The evaluations and the summer camps are over. With Opening Kickoff just 12 days away, college football is nearing the official visit season, when coveted athletes take five trips to determine their future, and schools invest one of 56 available trips (in the Ducks' case, 39, due to sanctions) to determine if the team, the campus and the player are a winning fit.
One of the most important visits for Oregon this season comes on September 27, when Gainesville, High School speedster Tony James flies into town for the weekend of the Cal game, the PAC-12 opener for the Ducks.
James is listed at 5-9, 175, which makes him about the size of LaMichael James and De'Anthony Thomas as prep seniors. A consensus 4-star recruit rated the #3 running back by Rivals.com, he's electric and shifty, a dynamic package that draws inevitable comparisons to The Black Momba.
