Can Sooners Break Aquinas Mold with Holmes?
Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas is a program that Oklahoma knows rather well. Over head coach Bob Stoops' tenure in Norman the Sooners have offered a number of former prospects from Aquinas but have yet to be successful signing any of those offers. Earlier this month Oklahoma decided to try again and extended another offer out to the dominant Sun Shine State high school in 6-foot-1 and 172-pound wide receiver Corey Holmes.
News of the offer caught Holmes off guard due to the fact that he wasn't hearing much from Oklahoma before that. Now that Oklahoma has joined the race he has plans to learn much more of the program.
"It was really out of the blue. I hadn't really talked to a coach from Oklahoma before then. It was a surprise; I mean I was shell shocked. An Oklahoma offer, I couldn't have been any happier. I was really happy that I received the offer. My interest in Oklahoma is really high now. I'm still looking into all the things that I am looking for in a college," he said.
