Jenkins' career day comes at the right time
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Vanderbilt fans who have been waiting for the breakout game from John Jenkins, and apparently, his parents have, too.
Jenkins' father told him before Saturday's 81-77 win over Kentucky that today would be his day. His mother texted him and asked him to get 25 or more.
As Jenkins said, "Mama knows best." Despite being guarded by DeAndre Liggins, whom VU coach Kevin Stallings regards as one of the Southeastern Conference's best defenders, the sophomore put the team on his back and carried them on Saturday.
Jenkins scored 32 points and missed just six shots. He hit 6-of-10 from 3-point range, and other than a few brief seconds on the sidelines during the first half, played the entire game
