Evans surprised by invite to SEC Media Day

CatsIllustrated.com HOOVER, Ala. - Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke were obvious choices as two electrifying, veteran playmakers for Kentucky's football team. But DeQuin Evans?
When new Kentucky coach Joker Phillips needed three players to join him at the mega event that is SEC Football Media Days, he and his staff agreed that Evans, a former junior college transfer, should represent the defense.
"At this time last year, I never would have thought I'd be sitting here now," said Evans, chatting with CatsPause.com in a quiet corner one floor above the media days mayhem at the Wynfrey Hotel just south of Birmingham. "I had only been here about two weeks last summer when I saw my first SEC Media Days. I didn't know what was going on. But I could tell how crazy it is.
"To be here today is truly a blessing and a honor," he said. "I'm honored to represent Kentucky."
