In or Out: Mario Tull
Brooklyn (NY) Xaverian outside linebacker Mario Tull picked the Orange as his college destination just over a year ago. Now he is getting ready to head to Syracuse to start his college career.
"I am very excited. I have been waiting for this opportunity for awhile now."
Tull, 6-foot-1, 201 pounds finds it hard to believe that it has been a year since he told the Orange coaches that he wanted to play for them.
"It is shocking because it came very fast. I actually thought I had a whole summer to look forward to, but now it is time to get serious and focus on the academics and the football."
Even though he is missing out on a summer break the Empire State prospect is excited to start a new chapter in his life and meet his new teammates.
"I am just looking forward to getting to know my teammates and getting my mind right with these summer start programs. Then of course football."
Since he is from New York he has already met a few of his future teammates and played with and against them on the football field. What he has seen of his teammates has him excited for the future.
"I have been talking with Steven Rene because Steven does not live to far away from me. I have also talked with Malcolm Cater, Rob Welsh, and John Kinder. We had an all star game last week and we really had a chance to connect with each other and speak about the life we are about to encounter," Tull stated. "It felt pretty, good each one of the Syracuse recruits that played and outstanding game. That made me envision us brining Syracuse back to the top."
At the time of Tull's commitment the coaches said they were looking for his as a linebacker or safety. Now as time has passed his starting position has been set.
"The last I heard from Coach Anselmo he said just keep running and working out. Outside linebacker is where they are looking for me."
Going from high school to college is a challenge for Tull and he will be facing a tough task right off the bat when fall camp starts.
"I am going to be able to handle any situation that I am in. I am looking forward to it and I know it is going to be a lot different," Tull said. "I am look forward to the challenge."
Mario Tull will be joining his teammates at school on July 5th.
