Alexander talks commitment
Over the weekend Louiszell Alexander took an official visit to Syracuse. While heading into the trip Alexander was high on the Orange and thought that he might make a weekend commitment. It sounds like everything went according to plan.
How exactly was the trip for the offensive tackle?
"I enjoyed it's a lot, it was cool. I saw everything that I needed to see and it answered all of my questions. Everything was cool."
Alexander, 6-foot-5, 315 pounds did not know what to expect from Syracuse because of the distance in between the school and his home. He did leave his visit enjoying the Syracuse surroundings among other items.
"The whole environment stuck out to me. I was kind of skeptical about the environment at first because it is far from California. The whole environment was good and I fit in," Alexander said. "The favorite part of the trip was the "Dome". I liked the "Dome" and how they should us that and everything. I think the coaches were actually my most favorite part because they showed high interest in me and I could see that they were loyal in how they talked to me."
On his trip he was hosted by a Syracuse player that was in his same situation a year ago at this time and the two had a fine weekend.
"Andrew Tiller was my host. We hit it off real good. He is an offensive lineman, so we had a lot of stuff in common. He showed me the ropes and we got along real well."
With all of the pieces falling into place for the JUCO prospect did he hold true to his statement that he was going to commit to Syracuse if his visit went well?
"I did verbal to Syracuse."
There were many factors that went into making this big decision for Alexander, but there was one item that stuck out over the rest.
"The most important factor was just seeing how they ran everything and seeing if I felt a real good vibe from the coaches. Being that far away from home I know that they have my best interest."
Even though he thought there was a chance of committing to the Orange before he took the trip there was one moment when he was on campus that sealed the deal.
"I talked to my mom and she told me to just go ahead and follow my first instinct because she said she felt very comfortable with it. That is when I made my decision."
Despite picking the Orange Alexander will be making a visit this weekend, but he is solid with Syracuse.
"I am going to New Mexico State this weekend. I have talked with them and told them that I would go and talk to them. I am Orange though."
College of the Canyons has produced many transfers over the years and Alexander may not be the only one headed to Syracuse. The future Syracuse offensive lineman has a teammate that is being looked at by the Orange and he will be putting in a good word.
"If they are trying to get Mychal Rivera then I am going to tell him to come to the Big East with me. We could turn the Big East out," Alexander stated. "As long as they hold it out for him I am going to try to get him to come with me. "
